The first part of my business that I hired someone to help with was ‘admin’.
At the time I had a 3 month old baby and wanted to start working a few hours a week. So I found a VA who helped for 5 hours a month.
It was exactly what I needed at the time and having someone who can handle logistical stuff so I could focus for those few hours I had available made a big difference.
It also meant things got done even when I wasn’t working.
Virtual assistants (VAs) are much more common now and many of them have small hour blocks (e.g. the 5 hours per month I chose) to help business owners get some tasks off their plate without making it a huge expense.
I was already earning revenue at the time, so I didn’t pay this from my personal savings, but it was money well spent. Getting help with admin (emails, invoices, contracts, general coordination of stuff) is something I would still recommend to others.
And if it helps, this doesn’t apply only to business owners. I know several people who have that kind of help for their family. Someone to help for a few hours a month with family admin. So there is that 🙂.
If you could outsource one part of your job, what would you delegate tomorrow?
